Narada Falls

Located 1 mile west of the turn-off for Paradise (or 6 miles east of Cougar Rock Campground) along Hwy. 706 is Narada Falls. Named for the Narada branch of the Tacoma Theosophical Society by Arthur F. Knight in 1893, the word "narada" is Hindu for uncontaminated or pure. One of the most visited waterfalls in Mt. Rainier National Park, Narada Falls cascades 168 ft. over a basalt wall into a canyon below.

Be Prepared:

  • When the river is running at peak flow, be prepared to get wet at the viewpoint, as the spray travels directly over it.

What to Expect:
  • Parking is located at the top of Narada Falls.

  • Visitors can follow a short trail down along the edge of the falls to a scenic viewpoint, offering a fuller view.

  • A second, less developed viewpoint further downstream yields a side view of the falls from below.

  • During the winter, the falls freeze and become 150 ft. icicles.
