Teotihuacán is located in Central Mexico, northeast of modern day Mexico City. During the Early to Middle Classic Period (A.D.200-650) Teotihuacán functioned as a large urban center with open plazas. In addition, it was also a religous center with temples, whose occupants worshiped numerous Gods. Many religous artifacts have been unearthed at this site including masks, figurines, and obsidian jewerly. Teotihuacán's strong focus on religion is why it is considered the city of the Gods.
