- Title: New York & Manhattan Beach R.R. Timetable, 1879
- Subjects: Manhattan Beach Branch; Timetables - Manhattan Beach Branch; Timetables - Manhattan Beach Branch - Late Nineteenth Century
- Description: Timetable of the New York & Manhattan Beach R.R., circa 1879. the NY & Manhattan Beach RR was cereated in 1876 as a reorganization of the NY, Bay Ridge, and Jamaica RR Co. The whole project was the brainchild of Austin Corbin, later President of the LIRR, to service his Manhattan Beach Hotel. The NY&MB was originally narrow gauge, instead of standard. The NY&MB had four branches, Bay Ridge, East NY, and Manhattan Beach, and Greenpoint. In 1881, Corbin bought the whole LIRR, and connected the Manhattan Beach division to the Atlantic Avenue and Montauk branches. Thus, the Greenpoint branch was abandoned for passenger service in 1885 and torn up in 1890. In 1885, a connection was made with Andrew Culver's Prospect Park and Coney Island RR(now the F train of the NYCTA).
