Thornium was spawned in Mondal, Sweden out from the funeral ashes of the band, Cryptic (which released one demo - "A Northern Wind.."), anno 1993. The original line-up consited of Thypheuz af Svarthnorde (guitars/bass/drums/chants) only, who independently released the first Thornium demon-stration cassette, "Northstorms of the Bestial Goatsign" in 150 hand numbered copies. By late 1994, Ulverheim (lead guitar/acoustic) had entered into this dismal union, along with session member Jacob (snyth), to record the debut full length studio release, "Dominions of the Eclipse" (NGP 005-95) through the now defunct Dutch label, Necromantic Gallery Productions. A limited advanced cassette was released for this record featuring the first three tracks. Rumors have shrouded the band for years and allege a second album had been recorded but remains unreleased for reasons unknown. An officially sanctioned "Dominions.." t-shirt was available at the time of this album. In 2004, nocturnaldomionion.com releases a stylistically different bootleg Thornium 'Dominion's..' shirt.
