Dear Parents,

Your child’s success begins with you! Besides homework, there are a lot of activities that can further help your child succeed in school.

• Review sounds and sight words in your child’s notebook.
• Read with them at least 15 min every day. It can be in your native language. They can also read to you, or younger siblings, cousin or even a pet!
• After you read, ask some comprehension questions like. Who was in the story, where was the story. What happened first, next, last? What was your favorite part and why?
• Give them some magnetic letters, let them play with them on the refrigerator, washer/dryer etc.
• Point out signs and interesting things, as you are walking places.
• Play I spy, and have your child tell you things they see.
• Have them count things around the house, while you are outside, money, etc.
• Give them little math problems to keep their mind busy. 8-7, 4+4, etc.
• Keep a journal. Any trip, even to the grocery store, can be an opportunity for your child to practice writing!
