The family river tubing

Seventh Family Reunion - 2000

Knoxville, Tennessee

The first night we all met by the pool to chat and watch all the kids swim. It was great to just relax after all our long drives to get there. The next day was very busy. We first met to play some volleyball down by the river. As usual, the game got very competitive. Later that day, everyone went tubing down the river. It was an easy ride, except for some family members who got stuck on the river bottom and had to be pushed out into the current. The tubing was great, since everyone was able to take in the beautiful scenery. That night we had our family dinner at LG's on the River, but there was also something special planned. The whole family went to see 'Portrait of America' starring Lee Greenwood. Although the show was fun, we made it even better by doing the wave and other crazy things in the theatre. The dinner was great and the few families that made it to this reunion were happy they made the long trip.

Shannon and kids fishing

Eighth Family Reunion - 2002

Brookdale, Pennsylvania

The Jaccards had so much fun at the lake at Caesar's Brookdale. There were many activities to keep the family busy. One whole afternoon was dedicated to a family softball game. Others enjoyed going out on the lake in the fanciful paddle boats shaped liked animals. Some others tried their hands at fishing, but generally came up empty. There was also a very competitive scavenger hunt. None of us will forget the rooms with the heart shaped pools and champagne glass hot tubs. Miniature golf was also a favorite activity for the younger children who attended. What made this reunion great was that we all got to sit together for every meal, instead of just the traditional family dinner. Some of us were even brave enough to watch the comedian or other performers they had at the resort.

Nineth Family Reunion - 2004

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Once again, a large number of the family made the long trip for this reunion. Not only is the beach beautiful, but some of the family also took advantage of the spectacular golfing that is available in the area. Most of the family though spent the weekend enjoying the sun and sand. There were many spectacular sand castles this year, which always improve each reunion. Even the adults are now in on the sand castle building. Everyone regrouped for the send off dinner and enjoyed mingling with the other family that they missed on the beach. Other adventurers went to the outlets on the hunt for a good bargain. Although the weekend seemed very short, everyone was happy to be in Myrtle Beach again, since it is where this tradition really got started.

Family 2006

Tenth Family Reunion - 2006

Mountain Lake, Virginia

Although this reunion was smaller, it was still so much fun. Mountain Lake had many activities for the kids and it was a beautiful venue for a family reunion. There were also shows, hay rides, fishing, and canoeing on the lake. Many members of the family took to the lake to try kayaking or to take one of the paddle boats out. There was also a great playground for the kids and a large chess set. There was also a beach where everyone could relax right on the lake. The resort was set along the Appalachian Trial, so there were many nature trails to explore. The family was able to have all their dinners together in the dining room, where everyone could relate the activities that they completed that day.

Sand Castle Contest

Eleventh Family Reunion - 2008

Wildwood Crest, New Jersey

This past reunion we had at the Aqua Beach Resort and it was hosted by Jill. She did an amazing job planning including designing the t-shirts and giving out sand pails. The first day many people went to the water park on the boardwalk and others just enjoyed sitting on the beach. At night, we walked the boardwalk enjoying the food and games. Some people managed to stay up late enough to see the fireworks. The next day we had our most competitive sand castle building contest to date. The winners built a life preserver and spelled out Jaccard Family Reunion. The lifeguards were only too happy to judge our contest. We had an early dinner at a local Italian restaurant, where it was voted that our next reunion would be a cruise. Later that night, everyone gathered around the pool to play the Left, Right, Center dice game and have some dessert.
