Academic Advisors
Academic advisors provide Liberal Arts and Science students with personal guidance on the best choice of curricula to satisfy their individual academic goals.
Who They Are
- There are nine or more volunteer faculty advisors.
- Some are current or former department chairs.
- Some are former deans.
- Some are recipients of the Chancellors' Award for Excellence in Teaching.
- All are teachers and scholars dedicated to helping you.
- Each department in the School of Arts and Sciences is represented by at least one advisor.
- Advisors are available on a walk-in basis daily from 10:00am to 4:00pm or later.
- Students who wish to work with a specific advisor may do so by appointment.
How They Help
Academic advisors help students to:
- Find transfer programs that fit their goals.
- Choose courses that prepare them for successful transfer.
- Complete the application process.
For Your Benefit
Advisors also assist students to:
- Make sure that they complete requirements.
- Choose the appropriate number and balance of courses each semester.
- Take summer classes.
- Manage their time.
- Get free extra help and tutoring.
- Make decisions about withdrawing from a course.
