The KS Collection
Jerseys of an Uncommon Fan
Here is a short interview conducted with Karl,
about his football jerseys.
- Collection: When did you get your first jersey?
- Karl: In September of 1994.
- Collection: Did you begin to collect intentionally?
- Karl: Not at all. My family overdoes it.
- Collection: Do you enjoy your collection?
- Karl: I used to. Now it is a hassle, with maintenance, sorting, deciding which ones I don't want to wear anymore...
- Collection: Do you keep the ones you outgrow?
- Karl: Yes, of the 25 I've outgrown, I've kept most of them.
- Collection:Anymore you are still looking for?
- Karl: A few. I still collect Bucs ones, but there are a few players I want to get.
- Collection: What makes you decide on a jersey? Is it symbollic?
- Karl: No. That is the dumbest question I have ever been asked in my life. No, a lot of times it is out
of respect for the player, their attitudes on the field, or rarities.
- Collection: Your favorite player?
- Karl: Pat Tillman.
- Collection: The Buccaneers are your favorite team. And your whole family wore jerseys
when they won the Superbowl?
- Karl: Yes. And my best friend Steve almost ruined it by putting on the
jersey of someone not on the team anymore.
- Collection: Any jerseys you'd never part with?
- Karl: Dave Klingler - he had to be the worst player ever. Barry Sanders - my Uncle
Mike gave it to me, and Chris Simms - potentially the greatest QB ever.
