Gallery Policies

If you are interested in exhibiting your art work, call the library at: (914) 693-6614 or come in for an application. Veronica Kurian is the current curator. Shows usually run for a period of six to seven weeks.

THE GALLERY IS RUN BY THE FRIENDS OF THE DOBBS FERRY LIBRARY

GALLERY PROCEDURE FOR ART EXHIBITS

OBJECTIVE: a good show looks clean and uniform

Whether it is an individual or group show:

  1. All work must be ready to hang.
  2. Other than canvas, all work must be framed (not clipped between two pieces of glass.
  3. Canvas works, if not framed, must be finished on edges.
  4. Group shows: accept two items per person and curator will try to hang both.
  5. Responsibility of showing artist: all work hung from molding, Hooks provided by gallery. (No nails in walls).
  6. Curators decision will take precedence over what is hung and where.
  7. Change of date or other problems contact curator: Ronnie Kurian 693-9308.
  8. Library Director will send press release to Journal News and Rivertowns Enterprise, provided information is received three weeks prior to opening. Call 693-6614 for more information.
  9. Artist or group leader will send personal invitations to opening. We recommend postcard type.
  10. Artist or group leader will provide refreshments for opening. Friends will provide paper goods, with advance notification.
  11. Artist agrees to donate to Friends of the Dobbs Ferry Library twenty percent (20%)of sales of artwork sold at exhibit.
  12. A $50.00 refundable security deposit is required, no less than 1 week in advance of the scheduled event.

INSURANCE WAIVER: Artist must establish value of works and take out insurance if deemed necessary.
